What is Pharmacology?
It is the science that deals with the study of drugs,
including their origin, nature, chemistry, uses and beneficial and adverse
effects. It includes the study of substances that bind to regulatory molecules
and activate or inhibit normal body processes.
علم الأدوية هو العلم الذي يختص بدراسة الأدوية من حيث أصلها وطبيعتها وتركيبها الكيميائي، وكيف تُستخدم، وما هي فوائدها وأضرارها المحتملة. كما يدرس هذا العلم المواد التي ترتبط بجزيئات التنظيم في الجسم وتقوم إما بتنشيط العمليات الحيوية الطبيعية أو تثبيطها.
What is Drug?
A substance, material or product used for the purpose of
diagnosis, prevention, relief the symptoms or cure of disease.
الدواء هو أي مادة أو منتج يُستخدم من أجل: تشخيص المرض، الوقاية منه، تخفيف الأعراض، أو علاج المرض نفسه.
With the exception of gene-based drug, drug does not
create a new function, but alters the existing function.
باستثناء الأدوية المعتمدة على الجينات، فإن الدواء لا يخلق وظيفة جديدة داخل الجسم، بل يقوم فقط بتعديل وظيفة موجودة مسبقًا.
Drug is poison if used irrationally.
الدواء يمكن أن يتحوّل إلى سمّ إذا استُخدم بطريقة غير صحيحة أو بجرعات خاطئة.
Poisons in small doses are the best medicines; and useful
medicines in too large doses are poisonous.
السموم في الجرعات الصغيرة قد تكون أفضل الأدوية، والأدوية المفيدة في الجرعات الكبيرة قد تصبح سامة. الجرعة هي التي تحدد الفرق بين الدواء والسم.
Pharmacokinetics (PK): what our body does to a drug.
It is the study of drug Absorption, Distribution,
Metabolism, and Elimination (ADME).
الحركيات الدوائية تعني ما يفعله الجسم بالدواء وتشمل: الامتصاص، التوزيع، الاستقلاب، والإخراج.
Pharmacodynamics (PD): what a drug does to our body.
It is the study of mechanism of action of a drug,
drug-receptor interaction, post-receptor drug effect, dose-response
relationship, the physical and chemical effects of drugs on our body, parasites
and micro-organisms.
الديناميكا الدوائية تعني ما يفعله الدواء بالجسم، أي كيف يُحدث تأثيره العلاجي أو السمي، وتشمل دراسة آلية عمل الدواء وتفاعله مع المستقبلات والعلاقة بين الجرعة والاستجابة.
Therapeutics / Pharmacotherapeutics:
It is the application of pharmacological information
together with the knowledge of disease, for the prevention and cure of disease.
هو علم تطبيق المعلومات الدوائية مع فهم طبيعة المرض من أجل منع المرض أو علاجه أو السيطرة عليه.
Chemotherapy:
The study of treatment of diseases by chemicals that kill
the cells, especially those of micro-organisms and neoplastic cells.
العلاج
الكيميائي هو دراسة استخدام المواد الكيميائية لعلاج الأمراض التي تسببها الكائنات الدقيقة أو الخلايا السرطانية عن طريق قتلها أو إيقاف نموها.
